In a Federal Government statement on Friday evening (31st August), Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis Dr. Denzil Douglas who is also the minister responsible for elections, in announced that on Thursday, 30th August, Benjamin resigned from the post as Supervisor of Elections in the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis.
He added that his resignation was accepted by His Excellency the Governor-General, Sir Cuthbert Montraville Sebastian, whom he said is committed to upholding the highest possible standard of democratic governance at all times. This they said is important to protect an independent judiciary and the proper functioning of democracy
The Prime Minister also revealed that the requisite work has already begun to fill the now vacant post of Supervisor of Elections, in order that the responsibilities associated with this post, so very essential to the national interest, may be resumed without undue delay.
