Huggins told MiyVue.com that the meet which was held on Sunday 16th December attracted over one hundred athletes.
“Everyone from the SKNAAA was surprised by the huge turnout of athletes,” the PRO said, adding that it was a “successful meet.”
With regards to the athlete’s performances, “there were a few good times but with the strong windy conditions at the stadium, there weren’t any outstanding times that could be spoken of.
“However, with that said it was the first athletic meet for the year and most of the athletes are getting back into shape and for the next meet scheduled for 23rd January, maybe we can see some better performances,” Huggins noted.
Some of the top performing athletes from Sunday’s meet included persons such as, Israel Liburd who ran the 100 meters in the under 13 category with a time of 13:14 seconds.
Dajour Richards in the U-15 boys category who ran the 100m in a time of 12:22 seconds, Josiah Oyebufun, U-17 boys also the 100m and a time of 11:95 seconds.
Also participating in the meet was international sprint icon, Kim Collins who ran in the 20+ category with a time of 10.73 seconds in the 100m.
For the females, Noha Herbert for the U17 category had a time of 12.94 seconds in the 100m and Odina Miller for the U-20 with a time of 26.21 seconds in the 200m.
The next development meet is set for Sunday 23rd January at the Silver Jubilee Stadium and according to the PRO, “We’re hoping that the second meet can be well attended at the first. We have to ensure we get all our athletes back on track for the many major meets we have ahead of us.”
