At a ceremony on Monday afternoon, officials of the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank, introduced the beneficiaries of the scholarships and outlined the objectives of their new investment in education.
They indicated that the project comes as part of the ongoing celebrations for the bank’s 40th anniversary. Members of the anniversary committee, along with bank Managers and other officials were on hand as the program of scholarship grants was launched at the National Bank Credit Card Centre, Port Zante, Basseterre.
Assistant Managing Director of National Bank, Mr. Anthony Galloway said
Mr. Galloway explained that the grant is available for (1) one year, “This is because this is our first year, and if everything goes correctly and runs smoothly, then the continuation of the project will be considered”.
He explained that 10 primary schools were the limit for St. Kitts and (4) four for Nevis, “thus explains the missing schools in the federation”.
“The scholarships were provided to students with potential to do well and with financial needs” said the Assistant Managing Director.
As indicated by Mr. Galloway, National Bank allocated an overall expense of EC$7,500 to be donated to all the scholars in St. Kitts and EC$2,500 for those in Nevis; thus a total of EC$10,000.
He ended by saying National Bank will always look forward to contribute to the economy and the youths of the federation, for the betterment of the nation.
The Ceremony was also attended by parents and guardians of the scholars, who were presented to the media and the gathering of specially invited guests.
