In a constituency#8 public meeting, Asim Martin urged party supporters to vote for the new candidate and disregard the incumbent representative Eugene Hamilton.
Speaking in Conaree, Dr. Martin said Dr. Drew has made a lot of developmental plans for his Constituency, and the only way those plans can come to fruition is if Dr. Drew is elected as the constituency representative.
He pointed to several of infrastructural developmental projects that Dr. Drew has carried out in the community while he was earmarked as the Labour candidate.
“I have seen quite a few things happen over the last year or so for this constituency. One of the good things I have seen so far is the fencing of the Conaree playfield.
“I recall when he came to the meetings, he was quite passionate that the people of Cayon, the football team of Conaree, should have a proper playing field. We said to him they deserve it, and I am glad to report to you tonight that as the minister responsible for infrastructure development, that project has been executed and executed under the direction of Dr. Terrence Drew,” Dr. Martin explained.
Further he disclosed that Dr. Drew has approached Cabinet with his plans for the development of constituency #8, which includes the upgrading of roads in the Conaree community.
“He also came to Cabinet, the extended Cabinet, and he spoke about the roads right down there in Conaree. And he said to me, Dr. Martin the roads need to be improved, and I said Dr. Terrence Drew let us go and visit and see exactly what you are talking about. When we visited there immediately we had those roads repairs under the directions and leadership of Dr. Terrence Drew,” said martin.
The ‘spring time candidate’ has also laid his attention on the development of community agriculture and bringing the “old time farming to an end”.
“There are young men and women here in Conaree who are involved in farming, and they too must be part of the agriculture wave that is happening in this country and he requested of the Minister of Agriculture that he must have the green house right over here for the young men and women who are involved in agriculture. He said that the old time farming must come to an end,” Dr. Martin recounted.
The incumbent in constituency #1 indicated that green houses would be expanded all around the island so as to develop farming within St. Kitts and Nevis.
“When done, Hamilton want to come and claim. Claim what! Everything happening under Labour and happening under Terrence Drew,” he stressed.
Dr. Drew has also made scholarships available for students of the Conaree community for students from primary and secondary institutions, according to Dr. Martin.
“On the other side you can’t compare, it’s like chalk to cheese. Comrades we have a man here to run in this constituency, and you know how he end up here, because he was forced out on Friday by greedy and raving Timothy Harris out of Cayon,” Martin lamented.
Dr. Terrence Drew will be trying to unseat the incumbent from the Peoples Action Movement and the Coalition Team Unity when general elections are held.
