The Voice crowns Jermaine Paul second-season champion

The 33-year-old background singer from Harriman, New York was declared the winner of the NBC singing competition Tuesday night. Paul was coached by Voice mentor Blake Shelton.

He bested 26-year-old indie rocker Juliet Simms of San Francisco, 36-year-old former Mouseketeer Tony Lucca of Detroit and 30-year-old classical singer Chris Mann of Wichita, Kansas.

Paul wins the show’s grand prize of US$100,000 and a record deal with Universal Republic.
