R.A.V.E is the newest performing arts school, focusing on dance initially. It has been created to take dance directly into the community it wishes to serve. The brainchild of a recent graduate of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC), Miss Thiona Evans, R.A.V.E has been the subject of her dreams for many years. Now the idea has been made reality through her love of dance, determination, supportive family, friends and an existing market of eager parents and students. All this in an effort to offer dance instruction around the island, eventually, making the performing arts more conveniently accessed by those who wish to learn. St. Peter’s along with the surrounding areas is the first destination in this performing arts model.
The inaugural class of the new school R.A.V E was held on Wednesday, 6th May 2015, at the St. Peter’s Community Center. Here the 18-24 aged group was introduced to Miss Evans. She initiated an open communication on what her expectations were and invited the group to voice their own. The other age groups that followed over the week were: 3-5; 6-8; 9-11; 12-14; 15-17 and 25 and over. When asked about the feedback from the students so far, she said, “They were all excited to be there and happy to try something new. The children especially seem to be open to trying anything. They are willing and determined to dance and I am happy to share my knowledge and skills with them.”
RAVE is currently open to accepting new students of all ages. For more information on RAVE and how to join visit: https://www.facebook.com/RAVEPerformingArts?fref=ts, or call 765-9540.
