The 28-year-old of Lodge Village is accused of committing the 2nd November, 2010 slaying of his girlfriend, Chantelica Thompson of Browne Hill but who resided at Pond Hill Village, Gingerland.
According to information received by MiyVue, the couple – along with their daughter and a school-age relative – resided at the home in which Thompson’s body was found.
Wilkinson was arrested and formally charged with the capital offence on Thursday last and this morning, appeared before Her Worship Yasmine Clarke at the District ‘C’ Magistrate’s Court, where he was remanded and sent to his place of holding.
It is expected, however, that Wilkinson will appear before the said court weekly where he would be further remanded until his trial date, (which has yet to be set), arrives.
According to the laws of St. Christopher and Nevis, the maximum penalty for committing murder, is death by hanging.
Meanwhile, Barbadian pathologist, Dr. Stephen Jones conducted an autopsy on Thompson’s remains and according to police reports she died as a result of shock and haemorrhage, caused by stab wounds to the head and chest.
Investigations into the slaying are ongoing.
