Thousands participate in silent march against amnesty

The law has since been published in the country’sofficial gazette.

The march was organized by 23 civil and non government’ organisations including religious bodies that regard the amnesty as a “violation to the rule of law”.

Demonstrations were also held in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam.

At least 5,000 people took part in the silent march, among them, an unidentified lady who taped her mouth and walked the entire route with a plcard bearing the slogan “words do not suffice”

The protestors were addressed by several people including Wilgo Valies of the Teachers Union, who promised “this is only the start of the battle”.
