Thousands took the Streets for J’ouvert

From as early as 4:00am, a number of bands and Hi-FIs were already making their rounds, providing carnival music to entertain residents.

Grand Masters departed the Basseterre High School grounds at about 5:00am, Xtreme with Ronnie Rascal, partied from midnight at the TDC grounds, on the Frigate Bay Road, then moved off at 4:00 am.jouvert-2

The Small Axe & Buccaneers Troupe departed at 5:00am from ECCB, while Red Devils met at 2:00am, at the TDC Parking Lot, then left at 4:00am. Kollision & Carib Brewery Troupe moved from the Carib Brewery Limited at around 5:00am while the Biggest Loser Troupe left at 4:00am, from Sugar Bay Hotel. Nu Vybes proceeded from Port Zante, opposite Sands Complex, from about 5:00am

J’ouvert also saw a number troupes taking to the streets after starting their partying, since the evening before, then hitting the streets at about 4:00pm.

The ever popular Nu Vybes Band (Sugar Band) had the largest number of jammers while Small Axe Band and Grand Masters had large numbers as well.

There were also good showings from the Red Devils J’ouvert Troupe, which seemed to have had an impressive showing of supporters.

One other major feature of J’ouvert was the presence of security personnel, ensuring a peaceful event and taking quick and decisive action to remove trouble makers from the bands.jouvert3
