Timothy Harris says PM Douglas deprived St Kitts and Nevis of prosperity

Harris was at the time speaking on popular talk show ‘Changing Times’ where he outlined that since the Douglas led regime became a government, several locally owned businesses had to be closed due to financial struggles.

“The point is by delaying the Motion of No Confidence; Douglas has deprived the people of their opportunity for prosperity and a better life… the hair dresser that finding it hard now with regards to the electricity. She would have had a better business.”

Harris also said that business owners who operate their trade on the ‘Strip’ have also suffered due to the high cost of electricity, adding that persons have now neglected themselves from recreational activities due to mounting debt.

The Team Unity leader further said that residents of St. Kitts and Nevis should “force” the Prime Minister to table the MONC and call elections to end “injustice” in the federation.

Harris noted that for a country with an abundance of land, the Prime Minister should have allotted plots to residents for farming and housing, rather than selling over 70 acres of land.

“A government with a vision and understanding would have put the land in the hands of the people… Let them farm it and make a success out of it.”

Harris also said that if Team Unity were in government, educational supplies would have been cheaper; no Value Added Tax (VAT) for the differently abled and his regime would have already adopted the United Nations policy for the disabled.

“Douglas has no shame, no conscience, no confidence in the last two years… he is afraid because every poll that he has done has been showing that he is lagging behind.”
