Vice President of the St. Kitts Golf Association, Lee Bailey, indicated on Tuesday that this will be the third time that the event is being hosted here. This he believes speaks volume to the confidence expressed by organizers in the quality facilities available in the country.
In giving remarks at a special launch event on Tuesday, (19th June, 2012), Minister of Sport in St. Kitts and Nevis, Mr. Glen Phillip indicated that his ministry and the Ministry of Tourism (and the government of St. Kitts and Nevis on a whole), recognise the importance of promoting golf, as one of the key pillars of the sports tourism agenda.
Phillip added that it is important to continue hosting tournaments such as this one, not just here in St. Kitts and Nevis, or in the OECS, but the entire region.
He went on to express his gratitude to the organizers, stating that the federation’s 3rd time hosting the event, is a demonstration of confidence, held by the Caribbean Golf Association for the organisational capabilities of the local hosts.
He added that the hospitality and graciousness of the people continue to enhance the experiences of visitors.
Phillip thanked the president of the Caribbean Golf Association and wished all the participating players the best of luck, hailing them as golf ambassadors of their countries.
Also giving remarks at the launch event was the Vice President of the OECS Golf Association Joel McEachrane, who assured that the organisers will work tirelessly to make sure the tournament is a success and that all participating countries can expect an exciting four days of competition.
The tournament runs from 6th to 12th of August, at The Royal St Kitts Golf Club in Frigate Bay.
