Basseterre, St. Kitts, 24th January, 2019 ( – The Ministry of Tourism is reporting that three cruise ships visiting St. Kitts made a record for the highest number of cruise passengers arriving in a single day.

According to the Ministry, the three ships Symphony of the Seas, Costa Pacifica and Crown Princess arrived with over 14,000 passengers on Wednesday, 23rd January.

Commenting on the overall increase in cruise traffic to the federation, and the economic benefits the cruise industry makes to the country, Minister of Tourism Lindsay Grant is quoted as saying, “Concurrent with rising arrivals, is rising on-island expenditure, which is critical to the livelihoods of a variety of local entrepreneurs, from taxi drivers and tour operators to retail shops and restaurants.”

The Minister encouraged tourism stakeholders not to be complacent with the successes achieved so far, but urged them to work to exceed the expectations of visitors to the country.

Tourism officials are projecting that over 1.2 million cruise passengers will visit St. Kitts and Nevis this cruise season.
