Tourist Robbery Unprecedented Says National Security Minister

Commenting on the robbery, the Minister told MiyVue.com that he was saddened by the incident and does not want a reoccurrence.

“This is the first time an incident of this kind has taken place but happening once is one too many and we want to make sure that we do not have a repeat of that again,” Condor stated.

The National Security Minister further noted that the matter is one of great interest and is critical to the federation’s tourism product.  It was also revealed that Mr. Condor will, today (Monday, 15th November), meet with members of the high command for National Security to further discuss the matter.

“The police have already issued a press release but we (National Security) also want to make a public statement as well,” he said, noting that his ministry will be making every effort to ensure that such incidents do not reoccur in the federation.

It was reported that the tourists, who were passengers on board the Celebrity Mercury of Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, were robbed of cash, jewellery, cell phones and other personal items.
