Traffic Accident in Frigate Bay Sunday Afternoon

Reports reaching MiyVue.com indicate that the accident occurred around 2:35pm, in the vicinity of the first round-about that leads into Frigate Bay. Eyewitnesses say that a gray X- Tail jeep, P6480, driven and owned by Ms. Nicole Prentice of Old Road, was travelling toward Basseterre, when it had an encounter with a black Nissan Navarra pick-up, P8103.

In her statement, Ms. Prentice explained that she had just gotten off her shift at the St. Kitts Marriott, where she works as a room service attendant, and was heading home, but just as she started to climb the hill of the round-about, her vehicle was struck by the oncoming Nissan pick-up, which she said was making an attempt to overtake a third vehicle, a green pick up.

Both the black Nissan and the green pickup were heading into Frigate Bay, said Ms. Prentice, who suffered some injury to her left hand.

The Old Road resident said that she had to take emergency measures to avoid the collision but her actions could not prevent the accident.

It is believed that the black Nissan was occupied by two individuals, one of whom was Ms. Arlene Nisbett, of New Pond Site, who is also a senior officer in the security company of Reliable Security Services.

Frigate_Bay_AcciThe identity of the other person was not known at the time by eyewitnesses. Both Ms. Nisbett and her fellow passenger were transported to the Joseph N France Hospital for medical attention, given their injuries from the collision. It is not believed however that their injuries were of a serious nature.

Both vehicles suffered severe damage to their right sides, including some fractures to the windscreen of the Nissan.

As the back- up of vehicles heading into, and out of Frigate Bay got slightly out of hand, many wondered about the lack of presence of the police. They eventually arrived some 45 minutes after a report was made, due to difficulties experienced with the vehicle, assigned to the nearby Frigate Bay Outpost, in whose jurisdiction the accident occurred.

The investigations by the police are continuing.
