Senior officials at the Police Traffic Department have indicated that owners of vehicles and drivers generally, need to ensure that their cars, trucks, vans and other modes of transportation are equipped with the proper lighting.
Sgt. Calvin Amory stated that this also refers to those drivers who have been using those types of lighting systems that are prohibited and have been a source of concern to other road users.
Amory also pointed out that the department has recognised that a number of drivers have been driving at nights, without proper lighting. He cautioned them to make sure their headlamps are in proper order before venturing on their journey.
The Traffic official continued, “Once your lights are not in order, and you are caught on the roads, we will be enforcing the law. We recognize as simple as it may sound, persons are taking these infractions for granted and we feel that if we tackle these small offences we will be able to keep down the big ones.”
The Department official also added that the police are not trying to scare any individual, but they are just trying to promote road safety. He also warned that traffic officers will be out in greater numbers this year, compared to previous years, to ensure all comply with the law.
Sgt. Amory also specified that blue lights are unauthorised and one should keep the stock lights on the vehicles, unless the department authorizes to change them.
