Trinidad and Tobago Looking for Early Win

The Trinidadians took control on the opening day of the game, at Warner Park, St. Kitts, on Friday.

Trinidad easily eclipsed the first innings total set by the home team. Leewards were dismissed for a below par score of 81, in their regional 4 day encounter that resumed today Saturday morning and is scheduled to end on Monday.

Kavesh Kantasingh and Aneil Kanhai shared a 7 wicket haul, helping to bowl out the Leeward Islands, with returning West Indies Batsman Keiron Powell, only managing to score 20, while the only other major contributions came from Austin Richards Jr with 38 and Gavin Williams 19.

In Response, the Trinidad and Tobago team was restricted to 179-2, by the end of play on Friday, as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Top scores for Trinidad and Tobago came from Marlon Barclay with 39 and Evin Lewis who got 25.

Bowling for the Leeward Islands saw Hayden Walsh Jr. picking up 4 wickets for 47 runs while Kittitian Jacques Taylor and Montserratian Lionel Baker grabbing 2 wickets each.

Trinidad and Tobago entered Day 2 with a lead of 91 runs. Unless something dramatic happens in the second innings of the Leewards, this game may not last more than two days.
