Trinidad doctors to demonstrate against suspension

The Medical Professionals Association of Trinidad and Tobago (MPATT) decided at a meeting held on Friday, 18th March, 2011, to demonstrate against the government’s decision and, according to MPATT general secretary Shehanaz Mohammed, they plan to engage in protest marches to show their disapproval.

Scores of doctors and other medical personnel plan a march to coincide with industrial action by the Public Service Association, the National Trade Union Centre and “sick out” protest by the police.

The MPATT feels that the decision by the Health Ministry to suspend the doctors was too harsh.
