PM Pays Courtesy Call on Premier Daniel’s Widow

 
Mr. Douglas travelled to Nevis on Friday to visit Mrs. Daniel and her family to extend his sympathies and assure the family of his Administration’s support.

Dr. Daniel, who served as Premier from 1983-1992, died from cancer on Sunday 27th May, 2012, following a period of hospitalization and treatment for his ailment. He died at his home.
 
Douglas, who was accompanied by the current premier of Nevis, Mr. Joseph Parry,briefly recalled the contribution of Dr. Daniel, not only to Nevis, but also to St. Kitts and Nevis and gave the assurance that the Federal Government will provide all that is required and necessary in accordance with the wishes of Dr. Daniel and the family, said a quoted statement.parry

Douglas also assured Mrs. Daniel that the Federal Government will be represented at the Official Funeral on Tuesday 5th June.

Before thanking the Prime Minister for his personal visit, Mrs. Daniel gave the leaders a glimpse into the personal life of her and her late husband, who were married for 35 years, giving them some insights on how the couple met and the events that led to their actual marriage.

While confirming that they had a breakthrough in the case the Police said they were thankful for the support of the community thus far, but wish to advise that they are currently listing publicly, one Kirk Hobson of Fort Thomas Road, alias Scotty, as a PERSON OF INTEREST. 
 
They explain that Kirk Hobson is considered by all Law enforcement Officials to be ARMED AND DANGEROUS.  They are therefore suggesting strongly to the general Public that anyone having any information regarding his whereabouts should contact The Police Headquarters at 465-2241 or The Police Station of easiest means to them.
 
On Friday 1st June, 2012 at about 9:00pm, two gunmen armed with firearms attacked persons who were at Damian Weekes shop at Haynes Smith village.
 
As a result three persons received gun -shot wounds namely, Damian Weekes, Dion Holloman and Vernal Chumney.  All three persons were admitted to the JNF General Hospital and are receiving medical treatment.  Medical reports suggest that all three persons wounded are currently in stable condition at the Surgical Ward.
 
Police have also said that this kind of reckless disregard for the peace within the Federation will not be condoned and as a result all Law Enforcement Agencies have been officially notified of the need to apprehend this person of interest.  As such if he does not present himself to the POLICE by 6:00pm on today the 2nd of June 2012 an extensive Man Hunt will be launched. 
 
Police are advising the general public that it is a criminal offence to aid, abet, relieve, comfort or in any other way assist KirK Hobson in evading efforts of Law enforcement to bring him to Justice. 
 

Our position is clear, and our resolve is certain, as we deploy all measures to ensure that the safety and security of the Federation and its citizens are maintained.
