The authorities have indicated that on 21st March, 2013, Ashton Mills of Newtown, Basseterre, has been arrested and charged for the offence of procuring a St. Kitts and Nevis passport by false representation and impersonation.
Also arrested and charged was a juvenile who is alleged to have committed the same infraction on the same date as Mills. Due to the age of the juvenile however, their identity cannot be released.
The matter of foreigners acquiring passports from St. Kitts and Nevis has been a hot topic of discussion in recent months, especially on the political platform, as that argument relates to the Citizenship by Investment Program, but there has also been debate about persons who have attempted to gain said travel documents under false pretense.
With formal charges now being made against Mills, the police will now be seeking to have their day in court to prosecute the alleged perpetrators.
