Police sources in Basseterre have indicated that Karamo Gould of the sister Caribbean nation of St. Vincent & the Grenadines, was convicted in the District A Magistrate’s Court,
for the offences of Possession of one glock pistol, Possession of 17 (9mm) rounds of ammunition, Battery on Police and Disembarking a Vessel Without the Consent of An Immigration Officer, which were committed on 2nd October 2012.
Gould will serve 4 ½ years and pay $10,000 in fines.
For Possession of Firearm, he was sentenced to two years in prison with hard labour, for Possession of Ammunition, he was sentenced to two years with hard labour, for Battery on Police, he was sentenced to six months in prison with hard labour and For Disembarking A Vessel Without the Consent of An Immigration Officer, he was fined $10,000.00 which is to be paid in three (3) months or in default will serve twelve (12) months in prison. All sentences to run consecutively.
In other criminal matters, the police have also disclosed that they recently recovered a number of ammunition that were taken into custody.
Based on intelligence, forty two (42) .40 rounds of ammunitions were found and taken into police custody. However, no one was held accountable for the ammunition and investigations into the matter are on-going.
