A mixture of Gospel, Jazz, R&B and Soul tunes were rendered by the nineteen (19) member band who are between the ages of 10-22.
The band is in the federation of St Kitts and Nevis hosting a number of concerts as part of a Caribbean Tour.
The Tobago Island Council Band is affiliated with first Boys Brigade Company of Tobago which is being led by Captain Sherriff Tobias. Captain Tobias explained that the band was formed three (3) years ago and has been growing and progressing tremendously since its inception.
He further mentioned that the intention of the band is to minister to the youths as the youths in the Caribbean are of great importance. The band which attended the Boys’ Brigade Regional Camp, held here in St Kitts and Nevis in 2009 is comprised of both males and females who are very passionate of the musical arts. Due to the spectacular performances at this camp they were invited back to St Kitts-Nevis by top officials of the St Kitts Boys Brigade Company.
The members of the Tobago Island Council Band play a range of instruments including drums, pianos, trumpets, guitars and clarinets. Few singers also compliment the band.
The band will make appearances at the Old Treasury Building in Basseterre today (Friday 29th July, 2011), at the Sandy Point Hard Court on Saturday (30th July) and the Immanuel(Sandy Point) Methodist Church on Sunday (31st July).
