Vybz Kartel Voted Caribbean Artiste of the Year

New York’s mainstream radio station WBLS 107.5’s Caribbean Fever show was bombarded with phone calls on the night of Sunday 2nd January as listeners called in from as far as Africa to vote for the Caribbean Artiste of The Year and favourite song.

Before the phone lines got jammed the host Dahved Levy had his listeners grooving to some of the hottest dancehall riddims.

However after receiving a ton-load of calls it was time for the anticipated “award ceremony”…And The Artiste of The Year titled goes to an artiste who’s known for giving us products such as Vybz Condom, Street Vybz Rum, Vybz Cake Soap and who’s also responsible for keeping the New Kingston hip-strip alive with the popular Street Vybz Thursday party, Vybz Kartel!

Mavado had to settle for 2nd place while the King of Dancehall Beenie Man was listed as the #3 Artiste of The Year.

Meanwhile in the Song of The Year category majority of the votes went to three songs “Clarks” by Vybz Kartel featuring Popcaan, “Hold Yuh” by Gyptian and “Drinking Rum & Redbull” by Fambo featuring Beenie Man.

However after Dahved carefully counted the votes the Song of The Year titled went to the man himself Gyptian for his billboard hit single “Hold Yuh”.
