Police confirmed on Sunday (28th December) that they have an arrest warrant for Alexander Diaz, a national of the Dominican Republic.
He is believed to have stabbed Pabel Santana, also of the Dominican Republic.
Officers at the Violent Crimes Unit say Diaz is wanted for a stabbing that occurred in a night club in Nevis last week.
They reveal that earlier on Saturday (27 December 2014), Santana, who lived at Stoney Grove, succumbed to his injuries at the Alexander Hospital where he was warded since the incident. As a result of his death, the police are now investigating a homicide.
This brings the overall murder toll in the country to 24 but in Nevis the count for 2014 has now moved to five.
Santana, who was a barber, was stabbed on 21st December at Enrique’s Bar, just outside the Elquomedo Willett Park, in Charlestown. Police at the time also reported that there were two others who were stabbed.
The suspect in this case, Alexander Diaz of Bath Village is evading the police. He was previously a person of interest in the case, but Diaz is now wanted for murder.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts Alexander Diaz is asked to call the Violent Crime Unit on St. Kitts at 467-1886, the nearest police, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS).
