Two weeks ago, Commissioner of Prisons Sterling Stewart advised his officers to remain vigilant after getting word hitmen were being offered money to kill guards.
The threats came after prison guards searched cells at the Golden Grove Prison, Arouca, which led to a near riot at the prison.
Prisoners and guard were injured during the fracas.
On social media, a photograph of a man who was purportedly hired to kill prison officers was posted, with an appeal for help in finding him.
