Was shooting a hit from jail?

Kerwin Boswell, 42, was shot in the hip. However, the bullet did not cause serious injury and Boswell was treated at hospital and discharged.

Police said at around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Boswell was outside his home in Bertrand Street when he heard a loud explosion and, moments later, felt a burning sensation to his hip.

The victim reported he saw a man dressed in a hooded jacket and three-quarter pants running down the street.

He sought medical treatment at the San Fernando General Hospital.

Boswell, who is attached to the Remand Yard in Arouca, has 19 years’ service. He could not be contacted.

Two weeks ago, Commissioner of Prisons Sterling Stewart advised his officers to remain vigilant after getting word hitmen were being offered money to kill guards.

The threats came after prison guards searched cells at the Golden Grove Prison, Arouca, which led to a near riot at the prison.

Prisoners and guard were injured during the fracas.

On social media, a photograph of a man who was purportedly hired to kill prison officers was posted, with an appeal for help in finding him.
