According to Harris, “Over the years we have stood steadfast to do as we can as a party and have embedded that in the expression for the good that we can do.”
Harris, who is the current Chairman for the ruling Labour party, stated that even after successfully winning the General Elections for the fourth consecutive term, “the party still remains committed to serving the citizens.
“It is not unreasonable, in fact it’s perhaps to be expected that the party that had been deeply anchored and rooted in agitation for the betterment of people even as it has celebrated political success over the past 15 years should find time to come and to ground with those people that have been part of the body politic for which it had always been champion,” he said.
The Senior Minister went on to explain that he believes “it is quite appropriate and fitting at this time that we remain true to that philosophy which still has significance and resonance that where ever there is a need and where ever there is any particular group of persons in the Federation and beyond, in need of help we will give a helping hand, in need of support we will show support, in need of justice we will fight for their justice.”
According to Harris’ track record in the political field, he has participated in elective politics in 1993 and since then has won his seat in each parliamentary election held in 1995, 2000, 2004 and 2010.
