In the Presence of the Governor General, Sir Cuthbert Sebastian, Deputy Governor General His Honour Eustace John, Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas, Deputy Prime Minister Sam Condor and other top government officials, the service got underway with the entrance of the Governor General, followed by the entrance of several Alter Servers, who preceded the Bishop as the song, ‘I am the way’, was sung by the hundreds who came out to witness the historic event.
A few scriptures were then read, followed by a Homily done by Bishop Richards, who stated that he was delighted to be the Pope’s representative for the Diocese of St John’s-Basseterre.
A special offering was also collected and will be dedicated to the Bishop. This was followed by a presentation of several gifts to Bishop Richards from the catholic community here in St. Kitts.
Kenneth Richards was given a grand welcome earlier in the day at the VIP Lounge at the Robert Bradshaw International Airport, where he was met by members of an organizing committee, responsible for the planning of the celebrations.
