West Indies vs. Zimbabwe – results March 12th 2010

Mark Kidger, our reader from Spain, pings us: “A lot of fans around the world would like to think that the 3rd ODI was not a flash in the pan and see an even better

performance from the West Indies today. An aggressive insertion by Chris Gayle at least sends the right message; will the Windies attack blow Gayle Force and back him up?”

Richard Blair sends us our second comment: “I do not believe the Zimbabwean team is underestimated.

As the ICC Venue in St Kitts move closer to the staging of the first round matches of the women’s Twenty20 matches in May, safety of the teams, officials, and patrons were brought to the fore on March 10, 2010. Over fifteen members of the St Kitts /Nevis Fire and Rescue Service spent the morning at Warner Park inspecting the Fire Alarm, Detection, and Suppressant systems.

The inspection included running tests of the Fire Alarm systems and Smoke Detectors; testing of the Fire Stations, and Portable Fire Extinguishers located throughout the Stadium. Emergency Signage was checked for accuracy and suitability to the posted position.

Emergency Exits were also inspected for adequacy and to make sure that they were clearly marked. A check was also made to ensure that the pump that supplies water pressure for Fire Fighting purposes to the Fire Stations at Warner Park are in serviceable condition. Portable Fire Extinguishers were checked for confirmation of easy identification and accessibility.

Fire Station Officer, Everette Ogarro, and Warner Park Stadium, Wingrove Smith shared the responsibility of ensuring the success of the Fire Prevention Inspection. Ogarro, with his expertise in mass casualty was very upbeat after the inspection when he stated, “there are a few issues of concern but those can be easily rectified.” He also stated that it was imperative the inspection is conducted at this early stage to identify areas that need to be addressed.

Stadium Manager, Wingrove Smith echoed the same sentiments in expressing his general satisfaction with inspection. He openly communicated the Sports Department commitment to work with all stakeholders to ensure that Warner Park is in “tip top” shape when teams, officials, and patrons get ready to “Bring It” for the ICC WT20 WI 2010 matches, from May 5-10 at Warner Park, St Kitts.

They beat the Windies in two games on the trot in versions that the Windies in the recent past have been better at. Nevertheless, I believe the Windies are the better side and will hold out to win the series 3-2. ”

Bryan Morton: “Surprised the Zim side is unchanged – would have liked to see Coventry given a chance as Matsikenyeri hasn’t been doing much for us this series, while bringing Shingi Masakadza back would have given us better bowling options. Hope leaving the side as-is doesn’t come back to bite us later…”
