What is Wrong with Spurs?

After going down in a 4-nil defeat to St. Pauls on the opening night of the competition last week, the Central Basseterre team returned on Thursday night (7th June, 2012), for another drubbing; this time from Conaree, who parcelled out a 3 nil victory over their McKnight rivals.

The Conaree Football Club looked the more confident of the two teams last evening, and used the advantage to thump the Garden Hotspurs, much to the dismay of the fans in green. Now the people of McKnight are asking what could have gone wrong?

Scorer for Conaree FC, Andy Samuel struck twice in the 15th & 56th minute and Kervin “Infamus” Benjamin scored in the 85th minute.

Yellow Cards were distributed to Andy Samuel (Conaree) in the 13th minute Shawn Williams (Spurs) 45th minute, Mudassa Howe (Conaree) 45th minute and Javid Sabratie (Spurs) 51st minute.

Coach of the UDC Garden Hotspurs Elvis “Pepe” Isaac was expelled from the bench in the 87th minute.

Spurs which is now likely to fail to make it to the Finals, will meet New Town on Saturday at 6:00pm with the boys from the east still high from their 1-nil victory over St. Pauls on Wednesday. That match will be followed at 8:00pm with the encounter between Conaree and St. Pauls.

Unless something dramatic emerges from the Conaree camp, it is shaping up to be a Final between New Town and St. Pauls, starting next week Wednesday, when a best of three matches will be played.
