WICB launches re-branded 50-over tournament

In an attempt to spruce up the tournament’s image, the WICB has instituted several changes which will see amendments to bowlers’ quotas, use of balls along with batting and bowling power-plays. Two bowlers on each side will be allowed to bowl a maximum of 12 overs during each game, with the remaining bowlers allowed a maximum of 10 each. Previously, there was a maximum of 10 overs for every bowler.

Additionally, two balls will be used in every innings, with bowlers at each end using separate balls.

Batting and bowling power-plays will now have to be taken between the 16th and 40th overs.

Barbados and Leeward Islands will start as defending champions after sharing the title last year when the tournament was played in Jamaica. The tournament, which will now be known as the Regional Super50, will run from October 18th to 29th in Guyana.
