Amongst the contingent who will be hoping to replace Kalia Huggins as the new Carnival Queen, are Irvinsia Warner, Zinga Imo, Shalloyda Hewlette, Precious Mills and Mikahlia Lawrence.
They will each be making five appearances, which include Swimwear, On Stage Interview, Evening Gown, National Pride (Costume) and Performing Talent.
The delegates spent the past two months in preparation for the various segments, filled with workshops, personal development sessions and training in communication and interview skills.
Though this year’s pageant had many setbacks and got off to a late start, especially for the presentation of the contestants, fans are still anticipating a keenly contested event; with many suggesting that the show is wide open for any of the five beauties to secure victory.
Victory however will be best achieved through the consistency of performance in each of the appearances. It is quite possible for one of the delegates to emerge victorious, while not winning any of the segments; once she maintains a high level of consistency throughout the contest.
There have been many occasions when contestants have won a number of the segments but still not securing the crown because of a very poor performance in at least one segment.
Performing in front of a St. Kitts audience is never easy; as many queen contestants have discovered over the 4 decades of carnival. It is always a tough job therefore for anyone who has elected to brave the harsh critics that are always ever present at this pageant. This year will be no different. It will be the toughest contestant, who has best utilized her time and prepared in the right manner, who will eventually add her name to the long list of winners of this prestigious title.
The show has been scheduled to start at 8:00pm.
