Soon however, the speculations will be muted when on Sunday 23rd September, 2012, delegates from the rank and file members of the party will meet to elect their new leader. This will be followed by a special party convention on Sunday 30thSeptember, where the leader will be ratified and formerly announced.
The two deputy leaders of the party, Shawn Richards and Eugene Hamilton, both current members of parliament, have already begun their campaign to succeed Grant who announced his resignation on Tuesday 17th July, 2012, during a press conference at the Ocean Terrance Inn, Basseterre.
Current public opinion polls however have Hamilton in the lead, ahead of Richards.
Many political pundits believe that if PAM carefully handles this transition of leadership and the election to come, the party could improve its chances of unseating the incumbent Labour Party when General Elections are called in 2015.
