According to police the fatal traffic accident occurred along the Island Main Road at Conaree in the vicinity of Land Fill, at about 8:40 AM.
The accident involved motor pick-up PA-5968 owned by the Park and Beach Unit and driven by Leroy Pemberton of St. Peters and motor car P-6558 own and driven by Osaro Ikponmwosa of Ocean Gardens and who is also a student of the Windsor University School of Medicine.
Investigation revealed that the pick-up was travelling from Cayon to Basseterre along the Island Main Road and when the driver reach in the vicinity of the Land Fill at Conaree, he saw the car approaching in the opposite direction, the car lost control and collided to the pick-up on the eastern side of the road.
There were five passengers in the pick-up and two passengers in the car, all were taken to the JNF Hospital via EMS, the driver and the passengers of the pick-up were treated and discharged and the two passengers for the car are presently warded at JNF Hospital with none life threatening injuries.
Ikpomnwosa was pronounced dead at the JNF Hospital. He was originally from Benin-city, Edo, Nigeria and moved to St. Kitts around 2011 after graduating from the Federal Government College Warri, in Nigeria.
He was scheduled to graduate from Windsor Medical School in 2016.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. Investigations are on-going.
This is the 2nd road fatality in St. Kitts for 2013. Lesford Ryan, also known as “Wifey” became the first fatality on Saturday 9th February, when he was killed while riding his motor cycle in Fig Tree Sandy Point. He collided with an electrical pole, losing control of the bike. He died on the scene. He was originally from Montserrat but had been living in St. Kitts for quite some time.
