“We welcome the other troupes, because carnival is about people enjoying themselves and over the years X-treme had to turn away some persons because of the fact that there were limited troupes. More troupes means more participation and we welcome that,” Hanley said.
The PRO was however still of the belief that they would have the largest J’Ouvert troupe for this year.
“X-treme has been a part of the carnival celebrations since debuting back in 2001 and this year we expect the troupe would growin numbers from revellers in neighbouring islands. Last year we had over 1,200 revellers,” he noted.
The theme for the troupe this year is “LIME X-treme Bacchanal.”
“Carnival is all about bacchanal and having fun and playing mas,” Hanley explained.
With regard to registration, “We don’t deal with registration. When you pay your money you get your package on the spot,” Hanley stated.
“This year we will be offering T-shirts, masks, noise makers, body paint and tote bags as part of the package. This year we are going to have two bars that will be offering free alcoholic beverages, both at the front and back of the troupe,” he said.
Persons signing up for the troupe will be given a reduced price of EC$50 on the day of the launch. The normal price for registration is $75
The troupe will be officially launched on Saturday, 27th November at Tony’s Liquor Centre starting at 4:00 p.m. with entertainment being provided by founder member of X-treme, Ronnie Rascal as well as Grandmasters, DJ Yardy, Tombstone and X-treme models.
