Young Musicians Benefit from Workshop with Visiting Music Festival Group

Over 70 male and female budding musicians and artistes were taught skills on how to improve their overall techniques, while at the same time being instructed on some of the finer methods, when it comes to perfecting their performance.

Members of the visiting East Meets West jazz band, headed by Paul Peres, took time from their schedule here, to share their knowledge and experience with the Kittitian/Nevisian artistes, as part of the Department of Culture’s outreach program to help lift the standards of local entertainers.

Since the festival was launched 15 years ago, one of the main objectives centered on the need to use the event to development the abilities of local performers, so that they too can eventually rise to such standards that they may become international acts in their own rights.

Friday’s workshop was held at the St. Kitts Marriott in Frigate Bay, running from 1:00pm until around 3:30pm.

Organizers have expressed satisfaction with the outcome, indicating that they were very pleased with the high turnout of young musicians and their keen involvement in the session. It was their view that the local artistes learnt much from the experienced musicians who agreed to provide both practical and theoretical instructions.
