According to the Director of Youth, Mr. Geoffrey Hanley, “The… Department has structured the activities in a way that would offer, them an opportunity to volunteer for community service “.It was also noted that young people would be mostly responsible for creating an action plan for his department, for the upcoming year.
According to him, his department has organized these activities to ensure that the theme chosen is also corresponding with the international slogan.
“While the young people will be providing support to the department, they will be receiving support as well,” Hanley said.
One notable change to the calendar of events relates to the Official Launch message, which this year will be delivered by selected youth leaders.
“This year we are going to change the way we have our opening, instead of the Minister of Youth Empowerment giving a speech on the occasion, we are going to give the opportunity to the CARICOM Youth Ambassadors, young people in the community and youth groups.
The various youth groups in St. Kitts will meet to strategize the way forward for youth development”, the Director explained.
Hanley concluded by saying that the Minister, Mr. Glenn Phillip will deliver the closing remarks for the month.
