Zaiesha Joseph Snags Miss Labour 2011/2012 Crown

The competition took place on 30th April, 2011 at Carnival Village which saw persons from each of the eight constituencies on St. Kitts, supporting their respective contestants.

Constituency No. 1 was represented by 19-year-old Davina Doras-Cranstoun, Constituency No. 2 was represented by 18-year-old Nakita James, Crystal Boyles (15) represented Constituency No. 3, Jackiema Flemming (17) represented Constituency No. 5, while Vekeich Connor (14), Sheniqua Cannonier (16) and Zarema Pemberton (19) represented Constituencies No. 6, 7 and 8 respectively.

The eight young ladies made appearances in four categories: Promotional Speech, Creative Wear, Performing Talent and Evening Wear and after hours of keen competition, the judges declared that Joseph performed best in the Promotional Speech segment, amassing 108.5 points and in the Evening Wear segment, amassing 94.5 points.Miss-Labour

The other two segments – Creative Wear and Performing Talent – were won by James of Constituency No. 2 with 117 points and Constituency No. 5’s Flemming with 124.5 points respectively.

Joseph’s overall score was 443, 10 more than the First Runner Up, Doras-Cranstoun of Constituency No. 1. With 404 points, Flemming of Constituency No. 5 captured the Second Runner Up position, while Connor of Constituency No. 6, with 386.5 points, was named the Third Runner Up.

The coronation was performed by Miss Labour 2010/2011, Jannie Browne of Constituency No. 1 – who took her final walk that evening and wished her successor well – and Prime Minister/Parliamentary Representative for Constituency No. 6, Dr. Denzil L. Douglas. Brown distributed participation trophies while Dr. Douglas crowned the queen.

Parliamentary representative of the Labour Queen 2011/2012, Glen ‘Ghost’ Phillip, was also on hand to congratulate Miss Joseph and to capitalise on and participate in “Kodak moments”.

Organiser of the event, Vincent Fough, speaking with MiyVue.com said he was pleased with the show’s high standard and the overall performance of the contestants.

“Overall, it was a good show. The standard was high and the performances during the segments were really good. The creative wear segment was a good one and also the evening wear segment. The girls were all competitive and persons have said that the show was of a high standard this year.”
